So my son has a lucky streak going. 1st he got a $1 RADAR for his birthday. Now he just recieved a $5 Star Note. I don't have pics yet. My current book does not tell me about this series. I would like some help on the quanity printed on this note and possibly a ballpark value, pics will come soon. Martin and Snow sigs, 2003 S/N DL08529740* I will post pics soon but it does have 4 folds and is a little faded towards the left of his face. If you need more info, please ask. Any help will be appreciated, thanks. Brian
San Francisco.. 3,200,000 printed SN Range DL06400001* thru DL09600000* Printed in FW Gem ~ value $35 Sigs "Marin/Snow" RickieB
Hey Thanks a lot RickyB. So how do you tell its from San. Fran.? Also how do you tell it was printed in Fort Worth? Again, just a newbie here trying to find my way. Thanks. Brian
The Second letter in the serial number designates the Federal Reserve Banks the notes were issued to. DL08529740* If you look on the face of the bill you can see on the top right of Hamilton's head there is a spot that has a plate marking. If it has a small fw then a letter followed by a number then it means the notes were printed at the Fort Worth, Texas facility. If it is only a letter followed by a number they were printed in Washington, DC. You can also find star note info by going to this website. Hope this helps. I've only been collecting star notes since December and to date i've found over 30 totalling more than $400 and i've saved them all. From $1-$100 i've got short runs, some in GEM condition and various other states, but hopefully someday i'll be able to pass them on to my kids.
Brian... The SN ("DL") tells where.. Fed Districts 1-12 or A-L L/12 = San Francisco On the Note you will see a FW in the lower right corner positioned near the Plate Position and Plate Number. Hope this helps... This will be a good book for you.
