Many take the USPS for granted and will miss the Saturday delivery. I am interested in how they might handle holidays under this new system. Many holidays fall on Monday, so Tuesday delivery will be a huge backlog from the past three days. I may need to invest in one of those supersize mailboxes. What happens if Christmas falls on a Monday? Many will have to resort to FedEx or UPS. TC
I like the idea. 99% of the stuff in the mail is junk. I can toss it just as easily 5 times a week as six.
I checked the rates and the lowest cost is 7 cents if you are a nonprofit and 14 cents if you aren't. And that is for saturation delivery where every address in the delivery area receives the item. If not every address gets them the rates go up. And all the items have to be presorted and barcoded.
too many paid holidays 5 day work week will only cause mail delays/stress on workers. If approved the shipping firms that are open on Saturday will really enjoy.
Agreed. There was a few members on here that worked for the Post Office. I'd like to hear their opinions on this.
lots of companies that are losing money cut services especially when cost savings exceed lost revenue
You want to really save money? Consolidate post offices so that they serve three or four towns instead of having a post office for every single town on the map. I realize this option would not be very popular for the "locals".
How about: Offer internet options for better service Offer competing pricing as UPS, FedEx and DHL Make stamps and junk mail a prices more Spend money on more efficient shipping methods Cut and don't give out top beni's that government employees but make it 401k like And consolidate stations if it makes logistical sense Now where's the Post Master General when you need him Like politics will let any of this happen...
