R&B or RED? I figured if it was graded they might have dropped it to R&B because of the spot in front of her chin.
I think PCI said Brown...but I think there is a little red so it might get RB if regraded.... PCI seems to overgrade mostly but I think they got it on this coin...the back is real nice....too bad I don't own it! Speedy
I have ten to twelve total. Nothing special, but there's something classically beautiful about the large cents. http://rickscoinstop.com/US_Index/Large_Cents.htm
I do not believe it is a fake. If it is, it got past NGC and they duplicated the obverse die crack in this variety of 1802 No Stems. It is graded XF 45. I cropped the photo to remove the holder, perhaps this explains your comments? Take care...Mike
Here are rest of my large cent collection. I'm in the process of re-photographing them....and I apologize in advance for any dial-up users. I really like large cents. While it is true, as others have pointed out, nice problem free coins are tough to find (and not all mine are problem free), particularly the classic heads of 1808-14 (of which I own none!), but they are not terribly expensive in the low-to-middle grades. Patience followed by a good relationship with dealers who have access to the coins you want are of high importance, IMHO. Have fun...Mike
The tough part about large cents, if you believe what's out there in reading material, they are not uncommon victims of coin doctoring - even in slabs - the experts can doctor the toning with success that is difficult to detect.
