The shop had several more bags of lightly picked over world coins today. They were described as probably but not guaranteed to be bound for the 10 cent bin. I picked out 71 of interest and got them for $10, which I suspect will have been a very decent price. I'll try to sort them into groups and take closer photos if I'm not boring you all with my extensive bargain bin collecting.
UK: Pennies--1860, 1862, 1908, 1913, 1916, 1919, 1936, 1939 Halfpenny: 1941 A lot of coins in these bags were brightly copper colored but well worn, as if someone had tried to clean them with a scouring pad or something.
France: 1855 D (Lyon) 10 Centimes 1924 50 Centimes 1924 2 Francs (I see the 1 franc and 50 centimes more often than the 2 francs) 1940 50 Centimes 1954 100 Francs (Attractive condition for a junk bin find)
I, for one, will never get bored with seeing the results of a bargain bin search. Excellent looking selection for that price, well done.
Bargain bin world coins are the best. I like the El Salvador, Philippines, large Canadians, India’s.... that looks like what I target as well.
Got in a few more photos while it was light out. Japan: 10 Sen Taisho 12 = 1923 1 Sen Showa 19 = 1944 (Tin-zinc and tend to be ugly. This one's not too bad.) 10 Yen reeded edge various dates 5 Yen Showa 23 and 24 (x2) = 1948, 1949
Canada cents: 1899(?), 1912, 1919, 1920, 1921, 1930, 1942, 1951 Some of these look like an unnaturally bright copper color for their ages and appear to have surface scratches from cleaning.
British India: 1/4 Anna 1894 1/12 Anna 1925 1 Anna 1943 2 Annas 1947 (Is this a "woody"? It has strong diagonal streaking.)
Continuing looking through for anything worth writing a label for... Denmark: 5 Øre 1884 (this is a decent find worth a couple bucks) 1 Øre 1862 (zinc--not scarce at all but nice shape for this easily corroded metal) 2 Kroner 1952 (worth twice what I paid in face value) 5 Kroner 1968 ($.70 face) Sweden: 5 Öre 1943 (x2) 2 Öre 1947
Spain: L: Some sort of 1800s 8 maravedis, probably. 9.53 g, 28 mm C: 5 Centimos, 1897 R: 50 Centimos, 1949-1963 (My eyes are too old to read the date in the stars)
Other European: Germany 1 Pfennig 1899A, 10 Pfennig 1940 USSR 3 Kopeck 1961 Cyprus 1/2 Piastre 1949 (nice condition) Belgium 1906 5 centimes (French), 1928 25 centimes (Dutch) Luxembourg 1957 25 centimes (aluminum, pretty) Vatican 5 Lira 1955 Pius XII Year 15 (30,000 mintage)
