Oh my, I haven't seen a selection of Large Cents on auction like this for some time.. Normaly mostly 40-50s availble but lots of early dates out there this weekend... I already scored a nice 1830 Med Letters last night tonight I scored again with an 1819 small date that after conservation is going to be a star in the $20 LC set.. also got my eye on an elusive 1834 variety (there are 4 and all damn hard to come by in lower grades/prices)
Now 1819 is not an uncommon LC but to get one of this quality in the $20 range makes me a bit giddy :D :D :D
Here's the 1819 as it stand.. I think I'll have a damn pretty coin after boiling and VC treatment :D Hopefully I'll get the post the 34 later :D

PS was working on figuring out the sheldon var and well.. Won't be positive until it's in hand but I'm seeing it as a very very possible 1819/8

I always buy off Ebay. I don't sell on Ebay because I had a problem with USPS. I like large cents. Last thing I bought off Ebay auctions was a lot of 14 Indian heads. I just bought the lot to get the 1872 and 1864-L.

Now if my luck only holds for tomorrow, I got eyes on a very nice 29 and an acceptable 06/7 but I expect that one will shoot up into the 50s before it's done... a couple other possibles as well but that's for tomorrow night :D

I think the 1819 will turn out pretty nice.

I checked it out, there a lot of large cents on auction. Some have a high starting bid you just skip them. I have enough large cents so I won't bid.

Most of the large cents I see at shows lately look like someone dug them out of the ground...

The large cents at Ebay are either high grade, slabbed, or damaged. There are some that are mid-grade.

The 19 is not the overdate (overdate is a large date, this is a small date) but it is a better variety, in fact the rarest of the 1819's. The 34 is N-2

Yeah, the inventories aren't that great...
The general condition and appearance of these coins in the market (that I can afford) makes me not want to collect these.

And now for the main reason I came to this post... the 19 and 34 Have arrived :D
will probably do the conservation on the 19 tomorrow so this would be the "before" pic :D
even now I'm damn happy I got either of these for 20 bucks :D

Thanks for posting your 1830 N-6. Fairly elusive variety (R-4). I go for them whenever I see them at a reasonable price.

I don’t think the 1819 needs conservation. Looks great as is.

Well since no one asked after I dropped the hint, the 1819 is N-7 an R-4+ coin.
