Based on a letter I received and the ANA member benefits guide, the free NGC membership will be discontinued. Instead members can get a $15 discount on an NGC membership. I’m disappointed but will continue to be a member of both.

Sad. I've used that for many years.

I was just reading it myself... Is worse then that... is only a $15 discount on a "NEW" NGC membership.. those of us already having one via ANA are gonna have to pay full price...

I think we will see a lot of bonus items going bye bye in the near future due to the current economic situation. I got a letter from AMEX that they will no longer allow points for convenience store purchases. Gas yes, potato chips and soft drinks, no.

Very disappointing. Most members weren't even aware of the bonus.
This needs to be revisited. Very few benefits offered for the members.

I had to buy an NGC membership to get a couple of Confederate notes graded. It looks like that offer has been gone for while.

Grading fees are sky high in my opinion. I had to pay $222 to get a $3400 note graded. It makes buying raw stuff very unattractive for the collector and paying grading fees equally so.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the new ownership of NGC walks away from paying the ANA to be their “official grading service” entirely when the contracts up. They gain nothing from it and it’s a considerable expense.

I used to take advantage of that but decided to go with PCGS the past few years.

Years ago, NGC and PCGS would bid for the honor of being the official grading service for the ANA. PCGS may win it back if they even want it.

My free NGC membership will expire 1/1/23. Has anyone else with a free ANA-derived NGC membership checked their expiration date? Will I get the $15 discount if I renew after that date? Wording on that is unclear to me.

When I consigned two Confederate notes for grading, I was told my membership had expired in 2016. They told me that was okay because I had an ANA membership card, and my membership was up to date. A week later, NGC called me wanting $25 for a membership plus the $350 I had paid for grading. I paid it, but I would not describe myself as a satisfied customer.

It’s now been more than a month. The piece that was sent express arrived a week and a half ago. I am still waiting on the second. I asked about having both pieces graded express, which would have saved so shipping, but it was cheaper to have them graded separately.

If I had not submitted the notes live at the Summer FUN Show, I would have added more expense for sending the items to NGC. Getting material graded is expensive, time consuming and frustrating.
