Always nice to pickup rejected silver. My CoinStar has been dry for months now. I think an employee checks it several times a day, so don't leave any for the public.
I think the slight weight difference might be the cause. I've found many silver dimes and a couple quarters from this machine.
Silver coins fail on both weight and electromagnetic checks. A magnet slows them more than clad coins.
What I did to the tellers at one credit union I said $1.00 a pound for any coins out of the reject area. Have to go back before the regular coin meeting next week.
My most legendary haul was a full 50 90% dimes at a coin star. The machine rejects anything it doesn’t detect as a modern, clad, American coin. As I understand it goes my magnetism, weight, size, and a few others to determine efficacy.
