I thought this was way interesting, and in good enough shape that I could tell what it is, but I haven't been able to find the reverse anywhere; the writing looks Greek, but... I'm not as well-versed as I'd like with regards to identifying coins, although I'm getting better. Does this look familiar to anyone? The reverse looks like an altar in a chariot. Many thanks in advance for looking and helping...
the reverse is a Baetyl, or sacred stone, in a chariot. below is another example, though I think the date on yours is different PHOENICIA, Sidon. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ 24mm (10.50 g). Dated CY 228 (AD 117/118). Laureate bust right, slight drapery on left shoulder / ΣIΔONO-Σ ΘEAΣ, HKΣ below, Baetyle within Car of Astarte. BMC Phonicia pg. 181, 226; SNG Copenhagen 253; AUB 234.
Wow- thanks Victor! BTW- I like the statement after your name/handle... This has also given me more information for deeper digging--- thanks again man...
Thanks fellows!... I was really impressed by the reverse of the chariot, as well as the condition of the bust of Hadrian. To me, it's just an all-around good-looking coin...
