I love everything about metal detecting. It scratches the treasure hunting itch while being outdoorsy. It would be amazing to live somewhere and have access to land where things like this could be found. Unfortunately, being American and not having access to areas that are worthwhile to search, my MD exploits have resulted in nothing but bottle caps, aluminum cans, shell casings, and the occasional modern clad coin. Needless to say, I gave it up One thing that I did learn during these experiences is just how pervasively we've spread our trash around the landscape. I could go a mile into some random spot in the forest that seemed pristine and still find cans, bottles and gum wrappers buried just beneath the surface.
