Many of you are familiar with the popular Dansco #7070 US Type Set album, which covers the major US Type coins of the 19th and 20th century, with some of the expensive stuff like the Draped Bust silver and pre-1834 gold omitted.

Why don't we play a little game and virtually assemble a 7070 Type set right here, together, one coin at a time?

How to play: look to see which type has just been played, and which type we'll need next. If you have a coin of either the type in play, or the next type, you may post it! But coins must be posted IN ORDER, so pay close attention to be sure you're posting correctly, according to the lineup below!

In other words, you must post either the current type or the next type. No backtracking or moving ahead more than one step.

    Here is the lineup:

    I will begin.

Our first type coin in the lineup is the Draped Bust Half Cent (1800-08).

Here's mine. I love the "Spiked Chin" variety.

So the next player may post either another Draped Bust half cent, or the next type in the lineup, which is the Classic Head Half Cent (1809-35).

    See how it works?

Really looking forward to following this great thread. I think I can play maybe 8 times from the whole list, if I manage to post at the right time, but watching this grow is much more entertaining. Great idea @lordmarcovan

If we run through it quickly, we can always do it again with the complete Type set. I just didn't want to start a game thread where the first coin is the 1793 half cent!

There's our Classic Head Half Cent (1809-35).

So the next player may play a coin of that same type, or move on to our next type, which is the Coronet Half Cent (1849-57).

A local SE GA detector find. Not by me, but by my buddy Billy Ridenour. He has found some really pristine early large cents. Interestingly, several have been this Sheldon-166 variety with the distinctive die crack on the reverse. There must've been a keg of them shipped to Savannah or thereabouts in 1798-1800 or so.

@BuffaloHunter 's coin above reminded me of it, with that big die crack.

I could take the selected coins and insert them in a "virtual" album as you progress. I already have a template made. I have pages for the reverse also. I don't currently have pages for the gold coins, but I could make them.
