Pictured is a French New World Issue 1713-AA Mousquetaire (30 Deniers) that just arrived today. I acquired it and several other Billon Issues, including a Sou Marque, about two weeks ago on an online auction.

As per the mintmark, this Mousquetaire was minted in Metz. For this particular issue, the other mint which produced Mousquetaires was the Lyon mint, designated with the "D" mintmark.

Mints that produced other New World issues (Billon and otherwise) for that era include:

    A - Paris
    B - Rouen
    H - La Rochelle
    Q - Perpignan

Although the specimen has damage at Obverse 2 o'clock and Reverse 4 o'clock, I love that this Billon specimen has survived with nice silver coloring and VF details. Given the damage, I would "net" this specimen at Fine.

Any comments about it are appreciated and welcomed!

I would also like to especially encourage folks who have specific knowledge about French New World Billon to chime in on their thoughts!

    Thanks, kindly
