I was at a show last week and heard at least 3 dealers complaining about PCGS' wait times. One said he had just gotten back a submission from January.
This is an interesting piece from the 80 Years War with a beheading scene on it (“Spaniards behaving badly”). I think mine is nicer than the Numista plate coin. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia134251.html
I recall a conversation with another bigger dealer who said he had 800 coins in for grading because of how extended their turnaround times are. There will always be a grading market for very expensive coins, but the TPG's risk killing the low end of their market by incentivizing people to get better at grading lower priced coins on their own. It takes a lot for me to even think about submitting right now, unless the jump in price is obscenely high between grades.
I'll crack open any and all slabs, each for a nominal fee of $3 + return shipping $6.99. If ya ask nice I'll only charge $10 total.
