    Hey there!

    If you ask me, these are the result of the zinc core releasing gas and creating a bubble under the coin (occluded gas bubbles). This can happen due to humidity, environmental damage, etc as well as the copper plating not adhering to the zinc core very well at strike.

    it isn't considered valuable and is a spender. Eventually the bubbles can rupture, exposing the zinc, and at that point it is only a matter of time before the coin dissolves into dust.

    This one is raised also. The plating looks damaged around it.

    Thank you. I think you are right. Plating issue. Again, not looking for value, just keepers. Zinc pennies have a lot of issues with the plating. I love copper coins!

    That little raised dot is the beginning of zinc rot. You should see it a lot on these zinc cents.
