I have a foreign bill which was in with old bills I bought at an estate sale. I have searched everyday I know how even a history of the Bank Notes. I find one like it exactly with out the gold inlay writing with the flag on the left obverse. The photos does not show the shing brilliant inlay. I believe it to be a 2003 Iraq 50 Dinars but all I have found have no writing or wording on the left obverse. Certainly on in gold print. I would appreciate any help some can give me. I believe it could be valuable and in like unc condition. Thanks to all. Pictures attached.

So then it was added after the note was printed.

Possibly for a special occasion and done privately. Also, maybe a protest but I cannot decipher. I have done this on one dollar notes and then there's the "Where's George" notes.

It looks very authentic and professionally done. I am sure it was for a special reason. Just not sure how to find out nor it’s collectible value.

I found an example sold on eBay ($1.35) but it was without the extra writing/printing seen on the OP’s note.

Appears to be an overprint (ink color doesn't match note) of the writing and gold inlay, so you probably won't find a match, but good luck.

I have had no luck. I guess I will put it on EBay as an errored overprinted bill and see what happens. I just wish someone could interpret the writings. Thanks to all

The same note with similar, but not identical, overprinting is currently on ebay for $25.00 -> https://www.ebay.com/itm/115130451428

I'm not sure how seriously to take the rarity claimed by the auction, or the claim that it's "one of a kind," but it sounds like some notes received these overlays at the time for various celebratory reasons.

It's a pretty nice addition to the note, in any case. If I had one I would keep it, but I really don't know if it adds any extra value or if it's a manufactured alteration.

I do read some Arabic, but that particular script is too stylized for me to make out.

I don't think it's an error. It looks very intentional and decorative.

I would reconsider listing it as an error if you don't know for sure. I agree with the others that feel it may be some after market commemorative issue similar to the Lincoln-Kennedy counter stamped cents or the gov.mint garbage.

I think there is enough doubt that this isn't an official issue. Listing it on eBay as official or an error would be a misrepresentation based on what you know so far, IMO. You should be aware that people who knowingly misrepresent their eBay lots get a lot of scorn and ridicule from knowledgeable collectors and deserve every bit of it.

Beginning with the invasion in 2003, a multinational coalition of forces, mainly American and British, occupied Iraq. The occupation ended when sovereignty was transferred to the Iraqi Interim Government June 2004. A new Constitution of Iraq has since been approved by referendum and a new Government of Iraq has been elected.
