Wish it were mine! Assembled by a Trade Dollar expert, this set is well worth a look. These are totally original, circulated Trade Dollars from Carson City, all PCGS certified. Enjoy! http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1012
crypto79 is a regular on the CU boards who has carefully assembled a registry set of higher-grade CC Trade Dollars in PCGS plastic. He's very knowledgeable of varieties and also an expert at authentication, IMO. My set, like most of my sets, is somewhat ragtag and lacks the consistency and originality of Crypto's. I think his set is a great reference point for those interested in what original, circulated TD's should "look like."
Someone told me about this thread and I have to say this is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about me Lol. Thanks and enjoy I will be updating it when my most recent PCGS submission comes back in a week or so.If anyone ever has a Trade dollar question please feel free to ask. I also act(!) all-knowing about peace dollars & their major VAMS if you need.
Well it is certainly is good to have you here. Very nice set and hope you stick around here from time to time.
Nice to have a visit from Crypto! He and 'keoj' pretty much have the Trades covered over at the CU. Again, if you like Trade Dollars and haven't looked at that set, you're really missing something.
Crypto79 you make me sick......with jealousy. :smile Hope you stick around here 'cause I'm sure there is much we could all learn from you. Welcome to the forum old fellow.....:smile
Wow, that is a great looking set. It amazaes me what people can put together with enough time, know-how, and of course, the funds to do it with.
A quick bump to those who care as there have been some new coins, also a large update is coming next week when I recive a large batch back from PCGS. Cheers
http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1220 Just thought I would drop in and show my latest update to the set. I plan on getting better pictures in the fall but the set is filling out nicely. Still need a decent 73s and a 76p type 2/2 and a few of the rarer varieties but I got time. Enjoy and all feedback is welcome.
Nice update.Signature link is in code. Was about to flame Taylor for bumping an old thread with a dead link at the top. HAHA!!
My every other year bump, Since the last time I have completed the set save for some truly in the weeds specialist type stuff like odd ball mint marks and what not. I have added one of the finest known of about a dozen 76p type 2/2 business strike coins and one of only 2 UNCs. The main stopper in a 1876s Doubled Die Obv in rough but real shape and one of only 10 known and the rarer 2nd S/CC die. Enjoy from a long time lurker. http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=1220
