Hello everyone.. Saturday was another hot summer day. I only was able to do 4 hours of metal detecting at McCarran Park Brooklyn NY. 3rd hunt with no silver coins Neat Parks Department Sterling Silver pin - 1961 13 Wheat Cents 2 Foreign coins Everything Neat spider web pendant Joey Some kid left his toy shovel at the park. I can use it as backup if I ever lose mine again!
Hey Ed…. All the modern stuff that you find. Do you just stick it in your pocket and return it to circulation?
I clean all the clad and cents as best that I can then take a trip to the nearest CoinStar machine. I'm dumping the coins sometime next week to have some extra cash for my next vacation on August 6th to Puerto Rico!
I am not a dedicated CRH (for those of us who hate multi-letter acronyms that is Coin Roll Hunter) person. But from time to time I get some coin rolls to break my routine. I have noticed that One Cent pieces are very dirty almost all the time. I generally hate to touch them and sometimes won't look close enough to even see the date.
I am the sort of guy that will walk out into traffic to pick a coin up off the ground. I never pass up free cash…. Just yesterday I had to make a trip to the local dump. Opened the truck door and a nickel was on the ground covered in some chemistry experiment goo. I had to force myself to pass that one up. That was the nastiest coin I ever saw….. If only I would have had gloves…
I'll pick almost any coin up, but I did leave one behind when I saw it in a urinal. @ Bunny Foo Foo - you got silvered anyway, so it's all good!
Not a bad group of coins for a short period of time. It was a hot one out there. Silver in any form is good but I keep hoping you’ll break last years record. If I don’t say it now I’ll forget so, hope you and your wife have a great vacation!
A paddyman98 vacation; A large pile of new dirt spred in the nearest park ha. Enjoy a safe and happy time!
I have a very good metal detector and have used it once, 1.brass end of a spent 12ga. shot shell and 1. slq with no date. The individual that sold it to me takes trips to Europe and has found some very interesting coins. Some worth $$$, still on hold until the department antiquities releases them and he pays the tax on them. He also found a 1909 S VDB, not the best shape but at least F12. Semper Fi
Reminds me of the time I saw about $10 in change at the bottom of a toilet pan in an Australian restaurant. Left it alone, but if I had had a rubber glove I might have been tempted.
