Picked this up today. I thought it was pretty cool. Yes I know the counter stamp stinks!! And it’s almost a radar but i still like it. Please share your thoughts. upload_2022-7-20_21-3-50.jpeg

Sure a shame about that tellers stamp.

I’m assuming there’s no Safeway to remove that teller stamp? I guess you can call this a bank error!

The tellers stamp is a major deterrent to collectibility.

The star designation makes it the note owners choice to save it or spend it.

As for it being 'almost' a radar. I don't see any configuration that makes it even almost a radar.

IMHO, I see it as a spender. However, for a total cash outlay of $2 on your part, I wouldn't fault you for keeping it. On the flip side, there's no reason on earth you should care one iota what me or anyone else thinks of your decision. Your money. Your collection. Your note. If you like it, save it, mount it, frame it, pass it on to your heirs. ;)

Yeah, it's not worth over face value, if that's what you're getting at, so you'll need another reason if you keep it, that's what you really should know.

The serial number doesn't even have a town associated with the zip code (some people collect bills with serial numbers that match historical locations or birth place, or hometown, etc.).

Not without damaging the bill. Banks do it all the time so not an error but damaged.

Because it isn't really a premium note, maybe try to use some acetone on a Q-Tip and see what results you get. Nothing to loose and you can learn from it.

It will probably leave the field whiter than it should be.

In 56 years, plus 43 working in retail, never handled a star note, and I was always checking.

No at Kroger, try Wally-World. Added fun, good luck.

Well, I had to know, so I marked a note with a regular ink pen and then let it sit over night. I used Q-Tips and acetone to remove it and this is the results.

It's still there, but maybe with more acetone and rubbing, it could be removed. It didn't seem to discolor anything else, but on a well circulated note, it would probably be noticeable.

    Just an interesting experiment.

My late father in law was big on the $2 and $2 *STARS* as a matter of fact when he passed, we cleaned out his dresser found about 500 taped to the bottom of his
    drawer.

If I got 4 2dollar star notes in a row (new). Would that be special?

High on the cool factor, but thats about it, $2 bills just aren't that popular
, you can still get them at the bank at least you use to but I havent seen one in circulation in the longest time.
