On further examination, the alignment of the date and IGWT is different between OP's coin (1 is almost directly below the O) and the one I posted (1 is directly below G). I don't know if that's normal or not (probably is because it is a different mint).
I've only had 1 over the years yes 1877 s ,I see nothing that would make me question its authenticity. I like dark coins vs bright as they tend to be less chance of being a fake....not the rule but less likely to be a problem coin. Nice find.
Date placement can be different from the same mint...remember the dates were hand stamped in the die... not the hub. I see this very often in IHC's and H-10's.
So many horror stories around Trade Dollars, that I wouldn't trust myself to know the difference between a real one and a really good fake.
Looks very good compared side by side with mine.. I would say real. Only difference I detect is the mint mark on yours
Does Liberty's face look okay to y'all? Looks kind of strange to me, but I'm definitely not an expert on Trade $.
It may be a face that only a mother could love, but it meets standards for a Trade Dollar Miss Liberty. (standards weren't so high in those days, but higher than for the 20 cent piece, which I think was modeled after a gopher)
