I have searched $180 of customer wrapped rolls and found 1 40%. Yesterday I went through my first box of halves and came up completely empty except for this coin. Any idea what happened? Is it worth keeping or should I slip it back into my box that I am taking back to the bank?

On another note, I bought a set of early 60's proofs on ebay last week, and when they arrived, I received a 1960 in my 1963 envelope. I check both the 1960's proofs I had received and ended up with one small date and one large date! Plus the seller is sending me a 1963 and letting me keep the 1960!

It is half of a magician's coin. They cut and hollow it out, then place another obverse side in the back (obviously, this one is missing that piece). Then, presto, you have a "two-headed coin."

Too bad you don't have the other half, then it would be a cool find. I have found one such two-headed coin in my roll searching....

First time poster here. Just went through a box of nickels and found the following:

    1939 x 4
    1940
    1940-D
    1941
    1941-D
    1946
    1946-D
    1947
    1949
    1949-S
    1953
    1954-D
    1954-S
    1955
    1955-D
    1957
    1958
    1958-D x 5
    1959
    1959-D x 2

Not bad. Short of finding buffalo's or war nickels, I think I did pretty good. Also, it is oh so obvious that 1964 was one of the highest nickel mintages ever. I bet I saw a hundred or so. 3 boxes of halves on order for next week....hope they are as good as this was.

    My heart is beating again...

First off, congrats Stan and welcome to the forum David!

At a bank today and found 27 customer wrapped rolls of halves. I love customer wrapped rolls and you can find great stuff in there....or if it comes from a knowledgable collector, you'll find squat. Well, I am finding squat (have 5 more rolls to open).

But, I also asked for new coinage and he had rolls and rolls of dimes in plastic rolls. I could see the edges were bright copper, so I knew they were unc. I bought a few rolls and as I looked at them, I saw 2009-D. Since no one has found these, my heart stopped. I started asking for more, he said he had a box, and I looked again, and they were 2000-D.

    Breath again.

I also got a box of halves that I'll open later.

    Boxes

Wow Bob, it looks like you are really upping your searching. Am I right you are now getting at least a box or two every day now? I have cut back to 3 - 4 a week for a while now. I have been finding a lot of coins I know I have already searched is why I started cutting back. Lately the time and gas to chase the boxes wasn't worth the finds. Last week I got 3 boxes and only found 2 40%'ers while my tellers saved me 3 90%'ers and 56 40%'ers. The only thing I found this week in boxes was an Australian 1950 penny in a half roll. Kind of weird to see a penny the same size as a half.

    Interesting foreign coin

I found a 1966 1c coin from South Africa while searching an N.F. String & Son wrapped roll of Lincoln cents.

Erin, I'm making up for my vacation by getting a box a day, lol.

Today, I searched a box and found 2 40%ers. I found a new bank that seems to always have silver. I have searched about 12 boxes from this bank with only one shutout and this is the bank in which I had the 28 and the 52 silver count boxes. Besides, most of us don't have tellers in their pocket (like you) saving silver for us (yes, I'm jealous, lol). So, I keep going back to that bank and their boxes seem to have something everytime. :)

And, Erin didn't say so, but at our coin club meeting on Monday, he won two door prizes, both Morgan Dollars, one with clear doubling on the tail feathers! Congrats Erin!!!

Yeah as Bob mentioned got REAL lucky at our coin club Monday. They sell raflle tickets for $0.50 each. They have anywhere from 6-12 prizes ranging from Morgans, mint sets, Barbers, etc. There are usually about 45 members attending. I spent a buck on two tickets for myself and $5 on some for my daughter. The way it works is the first winner picks first and so on. Before the raffle, I turned over one of my two tickets and wrote "winner" on it and told Bob and my daughter I was going to win with my ticket #507 (power of positive thinking). They call the first winner, she goes up. That winner picks the next ticket out of the jar and it is my daughter. I had already coached her to get the 8 over 7 doubled 1878 Morgan. She goes up then pulls the next ticket....#507. Wahoo I get a 1879 Morgan. 4 Morgans and we got 2 of them off the board. Then the last ticket was for my daughter again and she got a 1966 half. Very good night!

Bob, you have to get the tellers in Friendswood working for you! Turn on the charm and add a few treats and they will collect silver for you. They don't seem to like to "collect" a lot but if you only ask them for one thing...like silver halves or dimes, they are usually agreeable. I have given some of mine candy, gift cards, regular signed cards, chocolate, donuts, t-shirts, coins, etc. But I promise it has been well worth it.

Oh and we should also congratulate Bob as somehow he will be the new Vice President of the coin club and the funny thing was he only told them he would think about it. Next thing we see is a motion to elect him lol.

    Erin
