How About This Toning

    I think this was the first commem I ever bought perhaps 20 years ago. It was a deep purple with highlights, but I just had it in a box along with some other coins. Recently I fished it out and this is what it looks like...

    The one against the white background shows the color better, but in hand it is uniformly dark with a black/slightly coppery tone. I still find it attractive, but don't want it to change any more, so I'm going to give it a water bath, an acetone bath and put it in a holder...just sharing

    I'm gonna say it was cleaned. I have silver coins that I have "played" with and they showed some purple afterwards, but years later they just looked cleaned and the color had faded.

    I like toning that brings out the details on coins and your's is nice.
    I doubt water and acetone will change much. Show us photos when it's done.
