    Nice note. I don't think I've seen such a wide gap in serial numbers (413 - 456).
Wondering how many others might be circulating around these numbers without being noticed.

-Good question. I think it was the upper numbering tumbler that went awry (with the last 3 digit being high/out of position). I doubt there would have been more than a dozen, perhaps 20 might have passed QC. But when it comes to the numbers of notes that pass inspection, that's a drop in the bucket (needle in the haystack). The real question is how many were caught? (& in GEM like mine: I doubt many)

In 2007 we, in Canada, had a brief run of double-denomination errors ($10 notes printed on $20 paper) so many of us searched our BTT & BTU $10 prefixes. Nearly 100 were discovered but I never found one. To find one, you would have had to have searched several bricks (several 1000 BTT's or BTU's) & the banks make that nearly impossible to do. Unless you happened to be in the business of money changing (ATM supply) or were a paying brick searcher &1 of the first searchers (ie: the 1st to discover the error). I looked at our SNDB (on CPMF) & recognize some of the collectors who got lucky. A lot of these things are a matter of great timing (& I never caught such luck in my searches).

Some of my bills that I have stashed. Some other nice radars, etc are in for grading but have been sitting at PMG for a month and have not even shown up checked in, just received. My last submission of Thai notes was in and out in about 3 weeks.

I have plenty of other star notes. When I order my blocks of $1 or $2 bills, sometimes I get circulated instead of new so I go through them and pull out anything interesting or decent star notes. Buying blocks of new bills lets me see nice radars or star notes and take them out of the packs before I sell off the other packs. I just put a random new bill in the pack to make it an even 100 and take it to the bank and put it back in the account lol.

I should have this in hand next week. Looks like it will be somewhere around an AU50. Tough note to locate.

I am eyeballing another note, but need to get some major coin going for the next one I'm afraid.

It looks like this run was printed in March of 1950, and POSSIBLY was a 60,000 note run. This run was mixed with the insane rare 1934C J star NARROWS !! COP's are possible.

Nice Series 35 ! most you see is the 57,s
which were way over printed and have
allot less value even gem stars are worth
    only about $45.

A tad under graded IMO. Front is an easy GEM, but the back is off center, though not horribly so.

I feel that 64Q would have been a more proper grade. Agree ??

Either way, I am now down to the last part of the $10 LGS set, and now I need an uncirculated D star and G star.

If it were me, I would not of had that note graded, anything below a 64 in
a gem grade is death ! on the resale many 58,s and even 55,s are more
eye appealing, leaving ungraded you could get more money for it in my opinion.

Wife got this in her tip money last night. I am sure it's only worth $20 but thought I'd throw it out there. Haven't seen a low number like this in a very long time. It's been well used. img935.jpg

My monthly “Club” bills (they’re giving me 2 now) ...

The 20 Malawian kwacha note front design features Inkosi Ya Makhosi M’mbelwa II – Lazalo Mkhozo Jere (1902-1959), who was the Supreme Chief of the North or Jere Ngoni in 1928 and one of the five Chiefs who went to protest the imposition of the Federation of Nyasaland and Rhodesia in 1953 at Lancaster House, the United Kingdom in 1953. The main design is presented against a background with the headquarters of the Reserve Bank of Malawi in Lilongwe (capital city) under a great bright sun. A sketch of the Malawi map, a sketch of a cichlid fish with the denomination inside (two more without the denomination), and illustrative figures of three fishermen fishing in a lake complete the design of this side of the note. The reverse of the note illustrates a scene representing Social Development (sub-themed Education); the Machinga Teacher Training School, there is a pile of books with a graduation cap on top, and the Reserve Bank of Malawi symbol. This note is part of the 2014 -2020 series, and its color is purple and orange on a multicolor underprint.

For regular blocks and many later stars, you are 100 percent correct. Its former owner graded it and sold it on eBay.

If this were to upgrade to 64Q, one 65Q and three 66Q's are finer. As it stands now, there are 3 64 no Q and two 64Q. All other known notes are circulated.

Some of the pre 1950 stars have no known CU notes. A good example is the $20 1934B F star. Finest known is VF25 !! OUCH !

Many of the earlier star notes were not saved, and just did not survive (at least in any quantity) in higher grades. Also GEM LGS star notes are an arm and a leg.

    A somewhat recent purchase:

    upload_2022-7-18_19-49-59.jpeg

Population 4/0 finer. 13 graded at PMG. Lowest known serial to boot.

Some are just a tough get, thats for sure, its a shame PCGS ( Collectors Universe)
went belly up ! have many MPC from them, crossover grades can be problematic
    on certain notes.
