That will be fun. I have often thought that Capital holders don’t get as much love as they deserve here on CT.

Seated coinage is some of the best U.S. coinage I think.

Last time I did one of these seven-piece Seated sets in the same kind of holder, I acquired all of the coins except the Seated dollar.

This time, I'm starting with the Seated dollar, so the toughest piece is out of the way first.

    One down... six to go...

Here's the other dollar. Next, the 20-cent piece, to get the tougher stuff out of the way first, and it should be all downhill from there with the half dime, dime, and quarter.

Part of the challenge is finding relatively problem free coins with the matching grey "CircCam" look I want. Often I'll find one on eBay, only to discover it's grossly overpriced.

    Two down, five to go...

Capital Plastics holders are great when the coins don’t rattle. The trouble with the generic stock models like this one is that the coins often rattle or, less often, a hole needs to be enlarged. Capital sold a tool to do that. I don’t know if they still do.

Before slabs, I ordered custom made Capital Plastics holders with specially drilled openings. I would them slightly small and then fit them with the adjustment tool. They were very attractive, especially in white, but that color for coins seems to be out these days.

Here's the 20c piece. I look forward to seeing these coins together in my own photos. Hopefully with uniform lighting, etc., they'll match a bit more.

    Three down, four to go...

Just kidding. I love the series and would like to do a Capital holder just like this when my check from that Nigerian prince gets here...in the meantime, how's yours going?

BTW, CirCam in a white holder? Yes, please. ;)

I decided I had too many other irons in the fire so I sold the holder and the 20c piece. Kept the Seated and Trade dollars- I'll be slabbing those.

I did a search for a capital holder and in the results was a lot sale for dozens of NOS different holders including the one I wanted. Also in the lot was another holder I thought I might use thats balue was twice the first one I wanted. So I bid cheap, less than the value of the one I had originally searched for, and I won, (if it is still winning if no one else bids). Now I either have a lot more collecting to do or have to eventually a way to dispose of a bunch of plastic.

The difficulty with filling holders like this with raw coins are the Chinese counterfeits. You really have to watch out for them these days. The Chinese made complete sets of Seated dollars years ago and even made a counterfeit Dansco holder to house them. It’s sad, but that what you face.
