My only mint purchase was the 1971-S brown box Ike for $10. You can still buy one for that much, so I picked tulips.
I no longer buy anything from the US mint .... they produce nothing that Interest my collecting style.
If you really want it, go for it. If you can wait or have time to look for just the quarters, that will be the cheaper option. I also voted for tulips by the way.
I'm guessing that not everyone noticed this is a multiple-choice poll, given that four of the current seven answers are mine.
It’ll probably be cheaper in the future, but if it’s something you like the price is cheap enough to go for it an enjoy it now. I wouldn’t buy anything this year just because of the quarters but we all have different likes
I also stopped buying the excessive, overpriced offerings the Mint sells. I therefore picked tulips like my fellow deviants.
I have been through two ten year runs of quarters and will never do it again. To get a set you will need Uncirculated, Proof, Silver, Reverse Proof and all the other configurations the US Mint can dream up. Then consider one from each mint. I no longer buy anything from the US Mint.
Its $25. What is that in the grocery store nowadays, a gallon of milk and two loaves of bread? Not a lot in terms of relative value anymore. Do you like the coins? $25 is pretty cheap if it gives you some enjoyment in life.
You need to really like them and plan to keep them. They are worth very little after a couple of years.
I like buying mint products on the aftermarket. They are much cheaper and you know in advance how many were made and what kind of demand it has. Better yet you can search for quality. This has worked very well since 1964. Someday it will stop working and you won't be able to afford the coins from the recent past.
I've had to send to many back for quality issues over the years, so I avoid the mint. Like cladcoins, i buy on the the secondary market (coin shows or LCS). You can see what you get and they're almost always cheaper
I now have Proof sets from 1936 to date, with dates missing when they weren’t issued, of course. I limit myself to the new silver Proof set each year. It’s usually a poor investment, but I enjoy it. I stopped beating myself up with the clad Proof sets several years ago. At least the silver sets have a melt value. The modern mint sets seem expensive to me. Yes, I know that they put a ringer in them now and then to keep you coming, but those don’t do anything for me.
