nice find indeed...when I travel, I love visiting thrift shops, mom & pop's resell stores , sorta like the" Pickers" except I'm not as famous
That sort of makes me wonder why I've been missing checking out those places. They are all over the area here. For some reason I forget about them. I hit the flea markets, coin shows, pawn shops, hobby stores, but for some reason forget to check out those places.
With the way some people are nowadays, the thrift store staff may not have even recognized it as a U.S. coin. My 18 y/o neighbors and their friends didn't even know there was such a thing as a 50 cent piece, or that there were large dollars such as Eisenhowers until I showed them a few flips...
Wow that is cool You never know what you are going to find, that's a great one!!! I found a 1941 mercury in change the other day. Couldn't believe it. And I used to work at a bank and only found one in three years!
I volunteer in a charity shop on sundays, so you'd be out of luck if you came to mine if you wanted something for less than intrinsic and/or face....LOL..
I think you done good. A silver coin for face is good enough, but a silver half for a dime is killer. :high5:
I got a 1962 Franklin paperweight in yellowed acrylic for .99 at a Goodwill by me, thought it was a great deal till now!!!
