cheerios circulated purch on 7-7-22.jpg I just purchased a circulated 2000 P fine detail tailfeathers Sac. Dollar. The seller told me he searched over 500 rolls (25,000 coins). That is an indication of dedication. I paid $2000 for the coin. These are called several names. "1999 Prototype of a 2000 P Sac. Dollar" is the best description I have seen. I prefer "Circulated Cheerios Dollar" but no way to prove it.

If it was not slabbed PCGS or NGC I would not buy it.

I remember looking for those dollars. I found a cheerios cent in a cereal box. I gave it away as gift. Not much value $10.

    A MS-68 grade went for $29,900 at a Heritage auction in 2008

Hey Dennis. Can we get a better Photo of the tailfeathers?

Just posted a larger picture. Look at the fine detailed tailfeathers. The neck feathers behind the jaw are also showing. The claws are proper length. The 2001 P has the tailfeathers and neck feathers smoothed out and the claws are shorter. I have another circulated one graded at AU58. I suspect this one may grade at 60. I will not have it graded as I want an un-slabbed coin for show and tell.

@dennis5151 …please post a close-up of the tail feathers as a full image…a clear, in-focus close-up is what members need to assess properly…imo…Spark

No way would I have paid $2,000 for that coin without them getting it authenticated first.. It has so many scratches. Maybe looks cleaned.

Spark1951, right click the image, click on open in new tab and you should be able to view and enlarge the image.

Spirityoda, I agree. Your advice is what I would give to my kids and grandkids. Risk vs. reward is the most important consideration of any action. Of course, that being said, I admit I have a buy back guarantee for 30 days. I am looking at absolute rarity on these circulated coins vice quality. The number of these dollars available is much less than most people estimate.

Dennis, I did that already and the result is a soft-focus showing the right side with some marks and the left side with none. This is why you must supply acceptable images.

With all the evident improperly cleaned scratches and unknown authentication, I agree with @spirityoda …Spark

Don't get me wrong...it is nice that you have 1, but the value is probably a lot less than $2,000. just saying...

That looks like it's got the tailfeathers for sure, but... I can't see how this could possibly get a straight grade, given what look like deep scratches all over the reverse. (They look incuse, they appear to go all the way across the rim, and they don't appear to be on the capsule.)

Dennis, I did what you suggested and, even enlarged as much as it will allow, you still can't tell for sure that it's the right coin. It may be, but when you enlarge it, those scratches just reach out and slap you in the face.

The bottom line for me is that even if this is a Cheerios Dollar (and that is not yet confirmed), personally, since I don't collect these or know much about them, but I do know something about condition(s), I wouldn't give more than $50.00 for this particular coin.
I'm not trying to hurt your feelings or anything. That's just my opinion. As we all know, opinions are like a certain part of the human anatomy that everyone has and they all stink. So there's my stinkin' opinion.

I would use your guarantee to make a return. Perhaps he will offer you a lower price if you would keep it.
I doubt if he will go to $50.00 but maybe he will offer a better price than the one you paid. If you are determined to keep the coin, then any lower price would be better than what you paid.
I would use those scratches as the first and most prominent negotiating tool. They couldn't have looked as bad in the photos as they do in hand.

It looks like enhanced tail feathers to me based on your photos, but I agree it would likely get a details grade. Definitely not an MS grade.

Until a clean close-up is provided I remain skeptical…members, including myself, have been requesting one for 2 days now.
