Tough coin. I spent many years trying to pick the quarter on ebay. I finally gave up and bought a nice EF-45 from Rick Snow.

You 3 never cease to amaze me....as well other members here.

    What is an 1857 SLQ?

Edit - Never mind, I'm terrible with acronyms.

I guess. I got thrown off because the subject was Flying Eagle Cents.

Yes that was my bad...as Larry and I had a pm, and he shared his image of that variety.

I should become more tolerant when it comes to acronyms. But I probably won't. Pushing 80 is a little late for that kind of refocus.

I've got all of them in G to F. I never thought to look at AU-unc coins to cherry because it would have been hard to afford if I found one. :(

I have one but I don’t have a photo of it. The only clash I really have that stands out is on this $1.00 gold coin. The obverse of the Liberty Princess is upside down on the reverse in her entirety.

Look at the 1. It’s easy to see from there and yes, it’s slightly out of focus. I took them on a bad day and didn’t notice. This is the only other photo I have. Out of focus but just look for the bust figure upside down. Once you find it, it’s easy to see the entire thing.

Please forgive me. I was being a jerk. The heat yesterday was more than I could handle.

Don't have any to share, but I remember the day I identified the first dual-denomination clash mark on one of these. I was sitting with Bill Fivaz at the big error collectors meeting at the 1977 ANA Convention in Atlanta. I was the Editor of Collectors Clearinghouse at the time, and covering the meeting for Coin World.

Bill was showing me stuff he had bought at the show, and he handed me one of the cents with the half dollar clash marks on the obverse. These had been published in Clearinghouse by the first Editor, but nobody ever knew what had caused them. This was the first time that I had handled one. I studied it for a while, and eventually the Seated Liberty design, backwards, just popped into my head. I told Bill what he had and he damned near fell off his chair.

I have read on this site as well as others that "SLQ" was referring to the "Standing Liberty Quarter."
