    ...and one little Eagle.

What is anyone's impression of these, pls?
    Anything noteworthy?

On the 1864, I cannot tell if there is an "L" or not.

    Thanks!

I like the 64 but it is hard to judge luster from these photos or scans.

Nice group of coins. I can't tell about the 1864 from the image.
Look at the shape of the tip of the bust just above the 1 in the date.
The No L is rounded like 1863 and back. The L type is a bit pointed and narrow and was used for part of 1864 and after. With the coins you have it should be easy to get them side by side and see the difference.
The pointed bust detail is used to tell on low grade coins. The one you have looks to be nice enough grade to show the L.
    Hope that helps.

    The 1864 is a no L.

    Also, it looks like CN.

Hi, sorry, you guys have quickly gone over my head.:rolling:

    What is CN?

Abe- Is T-1 for Type 1 or Variety 1?
(I wish it were Var 2 then)

    Thanks.

If you look at the last feather in the indians headress T1 points at the C in America, T2 points between the C and the A. The dies were slightly modified this year and this design continued to the end of the series.
CN stands for Copper Nickel. Turn your 1864 on edge and look at the thickness of the cent. If its as thick as your 60-63 then its CN, if it is normal thickness than its Bronze...

    Thanks Abe!

It is the thicker of the two types. Like the 63.

I was afraid that CN stood for Cleaned!

I am going to post some pix of some unusual Lincolns over on the Error thread now. :hail:

nice cents, I know that the 08-s and the 09-s are sold for premiums, the mintmark on the 09 looks a little funny to me, but I do not know enough about the series to say it is a variety or not. I agree the 64 looks like a copper nickel, also the flying eagle I think might be a small letters type but I would wait for some more knowledge on that.

    Thanks,

Can anyone venture a grade on the 08S and 09S?

okay, since it is the copper nickel, it cannot be the with L type.

Are those small green spots on the 09-s something to get busy about fixing?

clustered around the leaves on the 09-s reverse I see some green spots, I dont know if it is some sort of verdifungus or just natural copper toning, I do know that the local coin shop has one of those 09-s IHCs in worse shape for about 850

you're right, it's the small letters variety. and it's also the low leaves reverse.
