Hello folks, I just had back surgery and must remain inactive for a time. Thought I would organize them, but in which way? Dates, Republic and Imperial, Alphabetically?
    How do you organize yours,,,,,?
    Thanks, Rich

I am lucky to find any specific coin I am looking within a week or so. OK!!

That is all that's needed. No little book with holes in pages.

I keep my coins in Abafil trays.
1 tray for ancient Greek, ancient Africa, and the ancient Middle East. Within the tray, the coins are organized into 2 groups : ancient Greek in 1 group, and the rest in another group. Within each group, the coins are organized by date minted or cast.
1 tray for ancient Roman, which includes Republic and Empire, organized by date minted or cast.
1 tray for Byzantine, organized by date minted or cast.
1 tray for Chinese and Vietnamese, organized by date cast.
1 tray for Celtic, Medieval, Spanish colonial, English, and US. All are organized by date, except that I keep the English coins separate, and the US coins separate.
The only things in the Abafil trays, are the coins. I don't keep any pieces of paper, in the trays. All of my documentation, is on my desktop computer, 1 folder per coin.
I only have approximately 150 ancient coins and medieval coins, so this arrangement works for me.

I had been roughly organizing my coins in 4 main groups: Ancient Greek, Ancient Roman, Ancient Judaea, and Ancient Chinese. Within each group I try to organize by date, starting with the oldest.

Right now my collection is being stored in boxes instead of the usual coin flip album, as I try to think of other neat and interesting ways to store/display them.

I get all my coins in uncleaned lots. I clean them, identify them, put them in 2X2's and then in binder pages. With each coin is a description page with a reference image of the coin I used to ID mine. There will also be an image of my coin. Below are some snaps to show how I do it.

    You're welcome @Mammothtooth
I know of 2 web sites, where you can buy them.
    US reseller : https://www.coin.com/cases/
    Italian web site : https://www.abafil.com/en/
I've bought all of my cases and trays, from the US reseller. I live in the US.
Currently, all of my coins are in 1 compartment trays. However, I also have 24 compartment trays, and deep trays, in case I ever want to put my coins in trays that have multiple compartments.

That's an endeavor planned for my retirement years (or sooner, if silver ever decides to go on a meaningful run),

It's changed somewhat over the years. My US coins tend to be grouped by collection (i.e. Morgan Dollars, Peace Dollars, Walkers, etc.). By contrast, my world coins are a bit of a mess. Currently, I've got crown-size silver coins stored in a few of the blank Dansco albums. For the rest of the pieces, I've tried to group them either by country or, in the case of colonial coinage, by empire (i.e. British, Dutch, Portuguese).

Over the years ..I think I've tried just about everything known...as well some new ideas.
When I colldcted Jefferson nickels I had then in 1.5 x 1.5 flips, with the notation card in one side. I put the coin in a kointain, facing obv. Outwards with note card under that had the date,as well other notations. I liked the smaller flips, plus more fit on the plastic binder pages.
I've have several series in album like books.
I also use 2x2's in the plastic pages in a binder....for larger coins.
I have 2x2 storage boxes, the slabs are in those double row boxes.
Some are in airtights depending on the size and series. I also self slab...as I can make my own labels and document on the slab. As a variety collector only Anacs grades as well marks the slab with the variety .
I will admit of all the storage options... it seems to my liking none work for all the different sizes and series.
I guess the answer is personal choice..of what works for your needs.
Are you the type who likes to review and enjoying looking at them?
Are you the type who finds a specimen and puts it in a 2x2 envelope in a box and then noting your collection in a ledger,or an on line site to store and manage your collection?
The reason I ask...over 50 years of collecting I am still rethinking my likes as well not liked coin storage.

I known some who has their collection on display...as they say they enjoy them more...well I get that...but... hanging them on a wall or use another type ofdisplay?
Lastly do you keep them in a safety deposit box?
I guess my answer to the op's is what have you found..that one size fits all of your needs?
