Ok, I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to the person represented. You are talking about the text. I see it now. o_O

Ah, I see how that was easily misunderstood. I should have said "The Spanish language" to clear up that ambiguity.

After a quick look, Spanish has appeared on other coins prior to this set. "Isla del Encanto" appeared on the Puerto Rico territory quarter in 2009 and technically on the "El Yunque" ATB quarter in 2012. So Spanish on the 2022 Nina Otero-Warren quarter represents at least the 3rd time (I have may missed others) Spanish has appeared on a circulating US coin. Latin has of course appeared numerous times as "E Pluribus Unum" and the State/Territory quarters also featured Hawaiian, Samoan and Chamorro. And even braille appeared on the Hellen Keller quarter. I don't think the Cherokee language has appeared on a circulating coin before, though, only on commemoratives. US coinage has diversified linguistically quite a bit this century.

I love the design I bought both clad proofs and silver proofs on eBay recently. Prices were okay for slabbed graded NGC PF70s I thought - the silver ones were approximately $140 with shipping and the clad ones a hair under $50. I'm glad we've remembered the Isabella quarter - those were sold, along with the more common Columbian Exposition half dollar for said exposition in Chicago in 1893, but they cost the same ($1) so most folks bought the half dollar and a lot of the Isabellas were then melted down leaving 24,212 survivors of the original 40,000 minted. The Isabella quarter was the first US coin featuring a woman (and the first featuring a foreign monarch) and was commissioned by the Board of Lady Managers of the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. Here are my ladies!
