http://cgi.ebay.com/57-OLD-UGLY-ABU...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item1c10f3fe64 At least the seller is honest
A beat up merc, and 4 wheats I can see. Honest seller? Are you kidding? $4.35 for shipping & handling? The Ronco Pocket Fisherman charges less S&H costs than that!
Honest in that he's describing what the coins are like. There have been numerous auctions on ebay that don't tell you the true condition of coins. Now for shipping, like most other auctions, is quite the rip off. Thus a major reason I rarely bid on ebay. .
And somebody bid on it!!! You see this all the time. What about the guy selling the mason jars full of rare coins that he supposedly found? I don't know if it's the same guy, but you always see the little treasure chests full of "collectible" coins. And the guy selling his "lucky Penny" that's been in his pocket for years. Ebay does have it's comedic moments.
Whoever is bidding is thinking they are getting them for under face but is not taking into consideration the shipping expense
Actually, I would like to defend his shipping cost. Those coins would cost about 2.50 to ship first class, then another .85 for delivery confirmation to keep them from going missing. If he puts them in an envelope, he has to pay for that and maybe a little paper to wrap them in. Shipping coins is hard to do cheaply anymore as the post office is getting a reputation for not protecting packages that are untracked. Also, at $5.34 it isn't a bad gamble. If he has a wheat from each decade, maybe there is a 1909 in there. Maybe a '22 or a '14 or '31 s. (Yes, I know that is not the case, but it COULD be based on the description). I figure the bidder is just taking a shot since he isn't putting much on the line.
His shipping costs are not not out line... I believe you should include e bay fees as well as pay pal fee in the shipping. Not to mention actual shipping will be over two bucks ... isn't the time it takes to package, labor and the packaging material worth something. I believe there are a lot of people that loose money and don't realize it. It's a stupid auction like several on e-bay. The seller isn't going to make any money and the buyer isn't getting any deal. You can find auctions like this every day.
