Wasn't sure what to think about this one. It surely looks like a maple leaf. Any help or comments are greatly appreciated.
OK a little more research and I've learned that is supposed to be there but the blunt "7" is confusing me? Does the blunt have or have not the maple leaf?
Nice Fish, looks like the pointed variety. There are 4 main varietys. Pointed and blunt 7. And then pointed and blunt with a maple leaf. Good job, where did you get it? And great job on the photos.
Thanks for the picture compliment. It came from a bank box here. I've managed to get a few hundred small cents from boxes. So is there anything good with the pointed 7 variety? Should I at least flip it?
The maple leaf was used to indicate coinage minted in 1948 when India was granted independence. The dies had to be changed because the original ones read "ET IND: IMP:" and the new ones wouldn't be ready in time. To meet the coinage demands the 1947's (all denominations) had the maple leaf added and were actually minted in the early part of 1948.
