I got home this afternoon to see a CNN news story with the president of E Bay. 60 billion @ year sales thats $2000 @ second. :loud: Buy buy buy ----Sell sell sell any thoughts? The time it taken me to post this is e bay has made more that most people make in a year! :eat: money hungry?
WOW, and what percentage of that does ebay keep not to mention paypal fees. And ebay is not in it for the money. Yeah right. With those numbers, why cant they discount there selling fees. Greed is why.
Ebay is doing what any business would do...maximize their profits; of course it's greedy, but it's still a business. For all we know, they could be replaced overnight by something better and cheaper...then end up going belly-up. I agree in that their fees are way too high, but supply and demand keeps them as my primary source for coin-related purchases; I am willing to pay premiums to sell to such a wide market base and have such a large selection to choose from. There are even some really good deals to be found on ebay every now and then. Ones that I would never be able to get if I were to only shop at the few local coin shops that are available to me in my area. -LTB
All I can say is that I'm glad they put so much of that money into making sure there aren't bogus sellers and they so dilligently fight counterfeits being sold. For those that don't understand...... THIS IS SARCASM.
They need to keep raising fees to keep the investors happy which keeps the stock price up. Where the greed part comes in is the executive team look at the salaries and stock options exercised. Ex CEO Meg Whitman is financing her political run on ebay money I'm not 100% sure how much she earned over the years but it's in the neighborhood of a billion dollars. Check this link this is where all the fees go. http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/EBAY/insideractions
Ebay are engaged in short term thinking. It is a shame this could have been a great American company in 100 years.
Ebay is a great company to add to any portfolio , I picked up 300 stocks when they were at 21 not long back today they closed at 27.19 so all and all im happy with Ebay these days from a speculators point of view , now from a ebayers point of view that's another story
I envy the kiwis. That 'trademe.co.nz' is the only website that comes close to rivalling ebay (at least in New Zealand). All the other sites, like ebid, who do charge reasonable fees, just aren't popular enough with buyers to be worth the bother...
