I have had it with these type of sellers, obvoius scam- what can be done?

It is amazing that this crap sold for $900, It is terrible that someone got taken advantage of so badly. This guy should be stopped because he has been selling the same "unsearched" coins for years

 

I have 2 AU VDB's an old wrapper and 48 common wheats.
I could do the same, only difference I would not be able to sleep at night knowing someone spent money they probably didn't have in the hopes that they hit the big prize.

 

That is the differance between you, me, and deadbeats like that guy. We actually have a conscience. Money is not everything. As they say, they LOVE of money is the root of all evil

What's up with that Toolhaus.org? How does it go back so far?

Related?: I had a negative feedback once from a very bad listener and I complained till I was blue but there was "nothing they (eBay) could do" even though it was obvious to all what happened. Then two months later my neg feedback just disappeared and when I put my ID into Toolhaus, it doesn't show up, even as "eBay removed." Am I just lucky? My Higher Power looking out for me because I was wronged?

 

I noticed that the seller has "too many rolls to 'process'" but he has the time to use every available font, size and color! Me, I'd spend that time filling out a PCGS submission form for the coins I found in my fabulous rolls!

 

I agree 100% Who doesnt have the time to find coins valued at thousands and thousands of dollars in these awesome unsearched rolls that he has so many of.

 

I'm afraid at this point it's more of a "stupid people shouldn't breed" rule.

I dont agree with that. Some poeple are just way to trusting. Not stupid, just naive. Or like me when I was starting out, just uniformed. Hopefully more people will follow the golden rule of coin collecting which is research research research before you buy.

 

It took me 1 month and about 7 eBay "unsearched" wheat rolls from different sellers to realize that even if the seller never searched them , they were probably originally rolled as some other knowledgeable collector's junk wheats. Spending money on an unseen & undisclosed item and having hopes that it will be amazing IS GAMBLING.

 

A comment from one of his buyers: "Only grading he understands is Slabbed Modern Clad Garbage, NO Numismatic Value!"

Yes that is usually the situation unfortunately. When you consider that the interenet is seen all over the world and the world contains several billion people, many, many are just not aware of all the possible scams out there. Unfortuately too is although many people on coin forums realize this situation, the amount of members is really trivial compared to all those out there that know little or less about coin scams. Ever watch those silly TV coin programs? Remember that people like Montel was selling those faked presidential coins with only stickers on them. Again, unfortunately those scam artist reach way more people than the coin forum people that do know the truth.

 

I'm sorry but the people that buy these rolls for $900 get what they deserve. They obviously have more money then brains. The seller is a real tool too it seems... I think both parties are equally stupid here.

I too have bought "unsearched"rolls, four to be exact. Three rolls from one seller I thought was a great mix of coins from the teens thru the thirties.They filled a lot of holes in my folders. The other roll was the usual forties and fifties. No I didn't spend $900 a roll just $6 and being a person who likes to search rolls I thoroughly enjoyed the "unsearched" rolls. Did I find any gems, no, but I do believe their is a place for the "honest" unsearched roll seller in the world.

 

I was almost duped by those TV coin sells people when I first got interested in the hobby. I watched them because I thought they were the "experts" in the field and they wouldnt lead me wrong. Thank God after I picked up the phone to call, I got a bad feeling and didnt. The next day I found this forum and bought some books including the Red Bokk and The Guide to Lincoln Cents. Sense then I havent looked back and am learnig every day.
Like I said before, knowledge i your best power against crooks like both the tv guys and those people like this on ebay,

eBay will not change they have no reason too. It's a sellers market and as claimed a sellers market with those selling need not know a thing about coins and coin values or honesty, just follow what rules there may be.
It is lost and a waist of time to try and police them effectively as knowlegable coins sellers must (if they want to stay in buisness) be.

I tried for years to call many on deceptive die variety listings, over 10 years to be exact. Nothing changed, I made a few friends, a lot of enemies and lot just did not respond. Maybe a few got into learning true die varieties but most are lost and don't care to be found.

The only thing that would ever make them change is loss of sales and were just not going to see that soon. At least not enough to make them really change and even if they did it would revert back to it's former self because after all, that's what it is!

What it really is this:
A place to get a bargin sometimes.
Good or even great sellers sometimes.
A lot of great buyers.
A great site to look up market values and what's hot.
A place for many to obtain items while staying home.
This filled with many bad sellers, fradulent listings, counterfit coins, less than honest practices, contrived listings, confused listings and just plain old rip-off sellers.
Now you will also have all these factors at a show or shop but the downside will be less, way less for the negatives.
