first box of halves, shut-out on silver. :( Since it was my first box though I filled a lot of holes in my date/mint halves collection. Found a couple 2003P's, no 87's yet though.

How do you identify a proof?

I'm bumping this question, as I'm curious myself. I roll-searched my first box of halves today with marginal luck: 2x 90% and 3x 40%. I'm still extremely new to it, so I'm not even sure what to look for as far as proofs, "errors", etc.

Some ID for proofs: Squared rims, more reflective, better details, S mintmark.

    Tellers

Ok question: Why does every teller as ask you how many half dollars you are looking for, ie. rolls, singles etc., and then say no we don't have any. If they don't have any does it matter how many you want? LOL

My reply is usually "Any you want to get rid of" or "all of them". Be prepared though, sometimes they have $500 or more.
