That's what I was thinking. The doubling isn't even remotely strong, and I'm not even sure it qualifies as a double die period. I have the hardest time telling the difference between hub doubling, and genuine doubled dies. Thankfully, I won't buy things that look even like double dies unless they are cheap, and I can enjoy the coin regardless.

That's not what I meant. If you looked at pics of the '69-S DDO you would see that it is vastly different than this coin. I mean night and day different.

Indeed, I looked at some on the heritage auctions completed listings. Way different coins. I wouldn't mind own a real 1969-s double die. I'd sell it and buy more coins :D

Doesn't hub doubling cause genuine doubled die coins?

This seller is on my personal do-not-touch list. He(?) offers greatly overgraded coins in a marginally deceptive fashion. Steer clear, IMO.

I might be thinking of machine doubling.

Hi, I just sent him this.

Hi,Being an expert on various varieties, I can assure you that your coin exhibits what is called mechanical doubling and is worth about 40 cents. It is absolutely not the rare 1969 S Doubled Die Lincoln cent that you are purporting it to be. I would like to get a response from you so that I can be assured that you will remove the coin from Ebay immediately. I suspect that you are not the kind of person who wants to cheat anyone as your feedback is phenomenal. I wil ask Ebay to remove the coin from auction if I don't get a response in a reasonable lenghth of time from you.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Let's see what happens.
