I went to a coin show this past weekend in Portland, Or. I was on a mission to get a St Gaudens double Eagle. I took the advice I got here. To buy a slabbed coin, the best I could afford, and avoid the most common dates. And this is the coin I bought, (after bugging a dozen dealers numerous times). Thanks for all the input I got here, JonySky It is an 1908 graded MS64 by NGC http://upload.pbase.com/edit_gallery/jonysky/mystery_coins

I started out with gold 3 years ago withb a 1912 $2.5 gold for $155.00 and now look at the price I think the new red book lists it at $220.00 ???
I too have just gotten my first gold coin and man theres nothing like it.Sky your not alone on the 2006.I'm waiting as well.I do have a question tho,are all eagles going to be .9999 or just 1 type?Havent been able to find out anything from the mint site either.
i posted this in another thread: i second that. i have read a few things. here is an older article. here is another. from what i gather, the old series will remain unchanged with the introduction of the new series. no details as of yet on the desgins as far as i know. hope that helps. acutally, here is a link from the mint. hope that helps more.
