Victorinus' Antoniniani with PAX reverse are very common. However, the series is more varied and interesting than expected.

This is an early issue, dating to 269, with his full name.

Obv.: IMP C PIAVVONIVS VICTORINVS P F AVG
    Rev.: PAX AVG
    Mint: Trier
    Year: 269

The coin has a very large 21/22 mm flan and I think this is among the finest busts ever made for Victorinus. Its a very naturalistic depiction of a serious man with a mild smile.

This is a late issue of the PAX series, which dates after the fall of Augustodunum in 270, as indicated by the little palm twig behind Pax.

    Obv.: IMP C VICTORINVS P F AVG
    Rev.: PAX AVG / V-star
    Mint: Trier or Cologne
    Year: 270

    Measurements: 4.15g, 20mm
    RIC 118

The quality of this heavy coin is great, but the portrait is more of the static type.

This one may fall between the first and the second coin.

Obv.: IMP C PIAV VICTORINVS P F AVG
    Rev.: PAX AVG / V-Star
    Mint: Trier (?)
    Year: 269/270
    Measurements: 3.2g, 18mm

The flan is somewhat small, but the portrait is very nice with an exceptionally high relief. I think this is the most common type of the PAX series.

This one does not yet show the V and the star on the reverse, but Victorinus' middlename is shortened to PIAV. I'm guessing that this coin was struck in 269 to early 270, shortly after the emission with the full name.

Obv.: IMP C PIAV VICTORINVS P F AVG
    Rev.: PAX AVG
    Mint: Trier (?)
    Year: 269-270
    Measurements: 3.45g, 21mm

Finally, Victorinus' heroic bust also falls into the PAX series.

Obv: IMP C VICTORINVS PF AVG
    Rev.: PAX AVG / V-Star
    Mint: Trier (?)
    Year: 270 (?)

I guess that the heroic bust also celebrates the victory at Autun. Maybe Trier issued the heroric bust series and Cologne the series with the palm twig to mark the victory?

Questions: What does the V and the star indicate?

I have more coins of the PAX type, but no other sub-types.

Show us your coins of Victorinus with PAX reverse or others.
