Quote taken from the listed link: "Tatanka is a Lakota word that literally means “bull buffalo,” but Tatanka meant more than that. Ceremonies and daily life revolved around sacred reverence for Tatanka" http://www.storyofthebison.com/tatankaaboutbison.asp Prior to my recent procedure I had been working on this for quite some time. Once I was positioned to accquire it, it was all but a done deal. Today is the first day that I have felt like sitting at the computer and I would like to share with you my fellow collectors and friends another pinnacle note added to the collection. It needs no introduction once observed and this particular Fr# is very very tough to locate in high grades as most are tucked away in collections here and there. Behind the scenes, this note gives special meaning to my collection in a very personal way. Thank you for taking the time to stop by this Thread and read this post. Regards, RickieB
I never get tired of looking at these. They are pretty common and a tad over priced especially these days but nonetheless neat bills. This note is from a pack of 50 notes that was broken up and sold by Stanley Morycz back in the 80's. I think at that time they were $1200 in gem. I am more into nationals having run the gamit with type notes but I still like them. My favorite red seals have charter numbers on them. Cool note Rickie B.
That is correct (confirms what my Dealer mentioned to me, he did not have the name..thanks for that)..one of my Mentors (now deceased) Thomas Flynn, had the note ending in 68 or 69, I cant recall which. Still a very difficult note to locate these days... I am glad to have it. I only own a few Nationals Brian, some from the Flynn collection as well..I find them nice as well but my main focus is on type notes. Not as common as some of the other Fr #s ....To each their own I suppose..thanks for stopping by. RickieB
Oh my lord! I sort of had a hunch that when you got back on here that you'd drop a big bomb! LOL! Very impressive and what a grade! Congratulations on the acquisition and on your progressing recovery. I don't think one can ever get tired of seeing these notes...
Ditto to the first part and we definitely have different levels of exposure on the second part! Very Nice addition Rick ~ Congrats! I have seen plenty in low grades but the color and condition on this note is really something to see! Thanks for sharing!!! And more importantly ~ glad you are doing better! Best Regards ~ Darryl
USS656.. Thank you..it feels good to feel a little better than the past few days. I do not have access to PCGS any longer as I am not a member in current standing, however, PMG has graded 82 of these notes to date with only 8 in a higher grade than this note. I would really be appreciative if anyone has access to PCGS for their census report. Thanks.. RickieB
Absolutely stunning note, Rickie! I don't know US, but I can recognize a good one when it jumps off the screen at me. Good to see you back on the forum, may your health continue to improve. Dave
