Sorry.. generally A Guide Book of United States Coins, 2006 by R.S. Yeoman. and Numismatic News updates for the past year, and the actual US Mint website if mintage was listed. I may have left out a few of the 2 and 3 coin sets from the early 80's, but it was an easy port from my database.

    MS and PCGS

I saw this on ebay today and it blew me away:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/1976-P-BICENTEN...ryZ41104QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Would PCGS have a graded coin that didnt have a value listed on thier price guide or are we facing a counterfeir rign of PCGS holdes?

    Anyone ran into those?

damn nm folks sorry i had two pictures up and was looking at one that was a PCGS coin and then the MS70 half lol I'm goign to go back to bed now.

The coin is not in a PCGS holder, so no its not a conterfeit thing. He does mislead people from advising them of a PCGS price list foir a non PCGS graded coin - but doesnt that happen all to often on Ebay?

#1--that isn't a PCGS slab....but no where in the auction he says it is a PCGS slab so its not really misleading.

My mistake was lookign at one of his auctions that had a PSGC slab and then the one I listed above. But, You are right Ebay sellers do to tend to over quote value form PCGS charts. Ecspecially with Jojax22 and his GCC coins. I had bought some of those when i was a baby to Ebay and when I got them ( some after 2 months of waiting) I looked at them under a magnifying glass and a lot of them had been brushed or whizzed. Curses of online buying. i cant wait to get to a twon that has a real coin shop either. Ours pays 50-60% of grey sheet, no exceptions for more money only less, nad has his stuff self graded and priced high.
Love living in a military town lol

Yep---the PSGC slabs are messing up some people....but there really isn't anything Ebay can do since they aren't useing the same letters in the same order.

    glaciermi,
Take for example the 1983 Olympic coins. The Red Book has listed
    1983 P - 294,543
    1983 D - 174,014
    1983 S - 174,014 - (1,577,025)

They only list the values for Each coin, but nothing for the sets. The D and S coins being the exact same mintage lead me to believe that they were only minted to be part of the 3 coin set with 1 each of the P,D,S coins. so that leaves -
    1983 P - 120,529
    1983 S - (1,577,025)
    1983 PDS set - 174,014

    Now that leaves -
    1983 & 1984 3 coin Silver Dollar & Gold $10 set Unc - Quantity ???
    1983 & 1984 3 coin Silver Dollar & Gold $10 set Proof - Quantity ???
    1983 & 1984 6 coin Silver Dollar & Gold $10 set Unc & Proof - Quantity ???

To help in figuring out how many of them sets where made, we know how many Unc 1984 Gold eagles were minted 75,886.

Not knowing if that coin was available as a sinlge coin in Unc condition makes it impossible to determine how many sets were sold in both 1983 and in 1984, It also prevents me from figuring how many individual coins both in Unc and proof condition were sold since some of each the Unc and Proof coins in 1983 were included in the Unc and Proof sets.

Now it is true that some (very few) commemorative coins were without all those sets that the commemorative coin program had in the early years, so it would be relatively easy to figure out the mintages for each individual coin and each set. But for the rest the DO have all those sets .....

How would i find out the mintages for all those sets? I have Googled, and Googled, and Googled some more. I have looked in Magazines, I have Checked the Quarterly reports of the US Mint (which only goes back a few years) and i have recently been getting some figures from Numismatic News (so what i am trying to say is this question isnt being asked without some of my own research)

I am trying to figure out (as close as i can get) how many coins are individual and how many are in a set or two so that in the future as time goes by (and continued updating in my own master list) i can get an accurate idea of what would be considered scarce or common and what may go up in price more in comparison to another coin or set.

Anyone who may know of a website, book, forum, newspaper, magazine, TV program, radio show, or even scroll, papyrus or Heiroglyphic writing that provides some cluse as to not just how many total coins were produced but as to how many sets were sold ( i can add or subtract from there) ... PLEASE, PLEASE point me the way .... :high5:

Many thanks for all who can help....
Also - i can post a complete list of everything if anyone wants when it is done ...
