Can you see a date on this large cent?

Pretty far gone, so I'm not sure you could verify a date, without damaging the coin.

 

I was having trouble identifying the date with a loop so I took a scan.

 

The third digit looks like a (2) the others are to far gone.

 

With a little skewed vision, I do see "1837" - my guess from the photo alone would be an 1837 with a head of 1838, but the reverse may also hold some clues.

 

That's my impression too, but with very low confidence.
