I am SUPER excited to have this complete to hang up in my office! I have had both the coin and the bag for about 5 years or so and have always had the idea to frame them together. The bag was an original bag that held 1912 $10 gold coins and the coin was from the hoard release so its possible this bag originally held this coin for about 100 years. Inside the bag you can see very tiny pieces of gold fleck from where the coins dinged and scratched each other while in the bag and also the outlines of the coins on the outside of the bag. I originally was interested in the type because of Jack London's books White Fang and The Call of the Wild- which focus on the Klondike gold rush from where the gold in these coins originated. Especially the 1912.
Great center piece for your wall! I love it! Love the history behind it and the potential left to the imagination.
Thanks! This should go nicely with the rest of the office decor! I've got some cool nationals hanging on the wall and a few other coins displayed as well. It's interesting to imagine all of the struggle the prospectors went through to get the gold in the first place and then those Canadian pieces surviving being melted for almost 100 years in a vault. Lots of cool history in the frame.
Thanks!! Thanks!! Haha if they ask me that, it's going to be tempting to make up some kind of crazy story loosely tied to the Klondike gold rush lol
I love those Canadian gold pieces from 1912-1914. Wish Dansco made a separate gold type page for me to add to my album
They are really cool! I used to have a full set of them, but sold all but the 1912's since I'm more of a type collector and didn't need a set.
