I Was Not Expecting To Win This Coin…39 DDR

    This is a variety I’ve always wanted to own an example of.
    Over the years when I’d see one up for auction I’d always place a bid with the assumption I’d be outbid. That was again this case this past weekend, however this time I won…
    Although this one is graded XF45 the doubling is still very visible with the naked eye and I will enjoy opening it until I someday upgrade to an UNC example.

    Great variety! XF45 is a bit of a head scratcher from here, but I still like it.

    As per the grade, it looks more like a Fine or VF at best to me. Most of the detail is gone from the portrait obverse and from Monticello on the reverse. I am curious, Is this third party graded and by whom?

    I don't do nickels but this is a nice variety with excellent doubling. Congrats.

    I kind of thought the same thing. I don’t see much remaining luster, only the slightest bit. Between the outside lettering and the rim.

    @bsowa1029 IMO, for the Variety (FS-801 Doubled Monticello) it was fairly graded by NGC.
