I got rained out around 6:00 PM/ so ended up purchasing a really rare coin ftom M. Raffler/ German dealer on MA-shops The coin is described as a prachtexamplar/ first strike. CH-UNC The mintage is 200 exs!!!! Rostock/ City AV Dukat 1796- IG obv: MONETA AVREA ROSTOCHIENSIS.1796 City Arms/ Griffin to Left/ Shield within Wreath rev: FRANCISCVS II D.G.ROM.IMP.SEMP.AVGVST Crowned Imperial Double Headed Eagle Rostock Mint 3.49g. 22mm. .986 12h Mintage 200 KM 130 Fr. 2597 Kunzel 238A/a
Mintage is 1.000 pcs, it is the last gold coin of Rostock Nice as all your coins! This coin has just been sold by Frühwald https://www.coinarchives.com/w/openlink.php?l=5663034|6444|59|47dd07791224dc4907a9824fde727e9a
I don't have access to the book of Kunzel right now, but would trust major German dealers more than Krause, sometimes being a little outdated https://www.coinarchives.com/w/openlink.php?l=5765760|6570|2604|fb471f67771ba3797493b355d302540d
I agree, there are many mistakes in Friedberg/ Krause other publications. Still 1000 or 200 both would be considered low mintage figures. Imagine a US gold Double Eagle with that mintage=price.
You cannot compare this. One always has to take into consideration: coins available vs. customers interested. And as to a ducat of Rostock this (at the moment) is still on the side of coins available - but changing. Here an example of 2004, even sold in the States for 800 USD net https://www.coinarchives.com/w/openlink.php?l=3725132|3841|886|9d11af7bc50b4d4c74b5e5e9b003f8e9
