NNE stand for “No Numismatic Expertise.” That coin is a typical cleaned, damaged (scratches) Morgan. It is neither 64, nor DMPL. This “basement slab” company legitimizes coins that are disasters in the world of coin collecting.
If its still run who I think its run by they actually can grade and finished first or second in one of the PCGS grading competitions. The only thing worse than not knowing how to grade is choosing to grade poorly
I recall that ebay seller centsles was outed as also being NNC. I took a quick look at their sold listings and don't see any NNC slabs. Years ago practically everything they sold was NNC graded. I wonder if they stopped the basement operation.
@Stile notwithstanding the"grading service" Label info, the there are some significant scratches and general abrasion on the slab windows which makes it difficult to judge the coin itself; please carefully crack it out and retake clear, sharp photos and we will be happy to offer a more informed opinion for you.
The strike appears to be good, but that is all that it has going for it. I see a lot of cleaning scratches in the fields and there is no way that it is a DMPL. It looks more like a MS61-Cleaned to me from those pics.
FWIW, National Numismatic Certification, LLC is an ACTIVE Florida business, registered in 2005 (here). Like most business registrations, it's pretty bland - just: Their principle business location is 5280 COUNTRYSIDE COURT SAINT CLOUD, FL 34771, said address can be Googled. The operating manager, secretary & treasurer is Kippra Dee Heinly, and standard annual reports have been filed up through March 2022. Prior to 2005, NNC Inc was registered in Michigan (8/22/2003-7/15/2007) although the last annual report was for 2004. NNC LLC was a party to an (in)famous lawsuit in 2008, https://casetext.com/case/national-numismatic-certification-llc-v-ebay The Internet Archive has copies of their website over the years... https://web.archive.org/web/20040701000000*/http://www.nnccoingrading.com/ both referencing Michigan initially and then Florida. The most recent capture is March 2022, but has clearly not been updated in some time the home page references the 2010 holiday season (and the FAQ is 2008 holiday season dates).
I guess that confirms my memory of the connection between NNC and centsles, but I can't recall what proof there was that the two entities are run by the same person/people.
Here is a topic thread from CCF regarding NNC coins. The OP cracked out 9 NNC/ Centsless coins and sent them to NGC to be graded. The results are probably typical of the NNC grading standard. Surprisingly one coin was close to NGC's opinion. https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=349502&SearchTerms=NNC
None that I can easily find. The business addresses and names and even registered agents are different. From the 2nd amended complaint (i.e. filed by the plaintiffs including NNC): There are also separate affidavits from Robert Johnson (Centsles) and Kippra Heinly (NNC).
Coin met my expectations for the 31 dollar price tag. Would of been in a pissy mood if I had paid more than 50. So all ends well. Would of have hated to been the person who paid full price for that grade dmpl though. Ouch.
