Please be advised that a new U.S. overdate, a 1943/1942-S Lincoln cent, has been confirmed. It is the variety formerly known as the 1943-S DDO FS-101 (019.5). The doubling was actually the result of two differently dated hubs being used with a slight misalignment between the two. TD
A more thorough updated article here: https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/experts-confirm-1943-1942-s-lincoln-cent-overdate-variety I bet @justafarmer could do a better overlay
My CAD System crashed 2 months back. Got a new one 2 days ago. Updated operating system and updated Version of TurboCad. So now I have two new interfaces to learn. The operating system interface and the New CAD version interface. Maybe by sometime next week I'll be able to do an overlay.
It would be awesome to see your overlays @justafarmer . Heres a link to the newly attributed Overdate. http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1943SDDO001.htm
I would be happy to look at any other overlays if you make them. Just align the bottoms of the 1, 9 and 4 offset as you see them on the pictures in the links.
Here are the requested overlays. I see nothing definitive one way or the other. I'll leave it to y'all to debate.
Thank you. I think that proves that a slightly rotated 3 could not have produced the extra metal to the right of the top of the 3. Tom D.
