Is this coin cleaned? Seems like all my VF Barber quarters have problems. I don't pay that much.

I would say it definitely looks cleaned. Typical cleaning marks, especially on the obverse.

Help me out, the only "cleaning indications" I know are the parallel lines left by polishing. What are the cleaning marks?

That stuff in front of Liberty's nose and in the fields behind the bust is a problem. Either cleaning or env. damage depending on its nature from what I'm seeing.

The gravel-type texture is indicative of a vigorous scrubbing on the face and right hand fields, as circled.

The very dull color can be evidence of excessive/harsh chemical dipping.

I don't think it's genuine. :( I've never seen denticles that sloppy on a real Barber quarter. Have you weighed and measured it, and done a magnet test?

The pot marks on the obverse, the brown/tan color on both sides, and the soft reverse have me wondering if this was a dug/metal detector find.

If it is genuine, that streak rising to the NNE from the black blob around U looks like a corroded area.

I'm still with "not genuine", though, based on these photos. Can you post larger, clearer ones?

Collectors, back in the day, used to regularly clean coins. It was an acceptable practice, so many, many older coins were cleaned. Yours appears to be a recent cleaning, or had been put away right after cleaning and not exposed to the environment, or toning would be present. The lack of the original surface is also a give-away.
