I went by my friend's house today and we took some pictures of my 2009-D Native American dollar which possibly has a weak edge strike on the date and MM. The 2 in 2009 and the D are especially hard to see even under 10X and I am wondering if it would be worth it to send off to PCGS. It is MS, but as you can see it has some fingerprints on it. Would PCGS say that a coin with fingerprints is "damaged"? I soaked the coin in acetone and distilled water and it did not get any better. Here are the pics. I made it a point not to crop put the star on the edge so that you can see the contrast in how the star is struck compared to how weakly the date/MM is struck. I weighed this coin and it weighed in at 7.993g. This first pic is a 2009-P that I have for reference purposes. THIS IS A 2009-P These are all 2009-D This pic and the one above are from the same angle, notice the 2 and the D are hardly visible. Darned fingerprints!!!
I thought the pics would be a bit bigger as they appear on my screen. I have the original files if someone would like me to e-mail them so they can be zoomed in on.
