Acquired this piece about a week ago. Low mintage, first year coin. Not a bad looking coin.

Sellers photos as mine did not look as good.

The American twenty-cent piece is a coin struck from 1875 to 1878, but only for collectors in the final two years. Proposed by Nevada Senator John P. Jones, it proved a failure due to confusion with the quarter, to which it was close in both size and value.

Really a nice coin. Mine was only a raw VG that I sold 45 years ago.

That is a very nice 20-center and a very nice date to top it off.

I have a considerably more modest, and also far easier to acquire, example of that type, the 1875-S, with a mintage of 1,155,000 compared to the 1875's mere 38,500.

PCGS called this one an XF40:

Very nice, mine isn't as pretty or as rare as yours but this is still a keeper.

It is a very attractive coin and nice find on 75 Plain. Much tougher to find than the 75-CC but doesn't sell for as much because it lacks the magical mintmark. The Philly double dimes offer good value.

Now that you mention it. Here is an 1875-CC. It's resides in my type set. It's wonderful seeing all the examples shown. The photo was not taken by me, I'm not that good of a photographer. It's NGC graded AU-58.

This coin has very nice color (mostly blue) when tilted under a light. The person I bought it from had originally purchased it from Mark Feld when he was a dealer.
