Just to change focus from the 1798 which isn't drawing much new interest by anyone but me. I know the last two examples aren't high grade, but these are the fun ones in attribution.
Not much interest around here are attributing some types of coins. All I can tell you on this one is it is a draped bust. There are way way to many reverse for me to try to look throught them all. I don not mind trying, but this would be too tough.
Yeah, I'd love to play but I never really got into the large cents for attributions. Now Bust halves and quarters I can do all day...
Hint. Reverse EE, but must use secondary diagnostics since the primary diagnostic is obscured by corrosion.
The three obverses, 31. 32 and 33 have subtle differences. I think it's 32 due to the peaking of the HWH and the closeness of the IB which is detectable, though weak.
My best guess is 183. B E space peaked hair and location of T in Liberty. I am still working on the other 98 you posted it is tough when the design is heavily worn. Ron:kewl:
This is my conclusion. It makes it my rarest variety, just ahead of my 76a, 86 and 133 which are just ahead of my 85. Unless the 98 turns out to be a new variety. I haven't come to a satisfactory reverse on the 98 yet either. There's something wrong with every possibility I've looked at. I know it's hard when looking at well worn examples, but you get what you get sometimes. I'm leaning toward the possibility of a new Reverse from the O hub. The inside berry (short or no stem and close) at E is another problem with many possibilities.
