It is but there are some nice coins shown - worth a visit if you're into Barbers. @Elbesaar who started this thread had a great collection. He passed away ~4 years ago.
NGC gave the half a grade of PF61. I have no idea what they find so bad about it, but it made it affordable. (I checked out another PF61 on Heritage, and it looked like it was rubbed with steel wool.) If I ever get around to selling my coins, this one will be sold raw so it sells on its merits, not on its grade.
That’s harsh all right . I don’t have it in hand , but your pic is good enough to say 64 minimum . I think PCGS doesn’t like dark edge toning .yours has some beautiful colors in it . I’d of snapped it up too as a 61 . You got a heck of a deal ! On a beautiful coin .
@buddy16cat revived it, not me. This thread started years before I gave a whit about Barbers. Since then I wrote a whole article on that 1901-O dime! Here's another cool one. Both are previously unknown hub transition varieties.
Might as well keep the thread alive. I've slowly started collecting all the 25c obv/rev type combos for 1900. 1/2 - common at all three mints 1/3 - few at P and O, very few S (popped up on ebay, bought cheap) 2/2 - some at P, none O, few S 2/3 - common for P and S, some O 3/3 - yes, there is now a 3rd obv type, the difference is only in WE TRUST. This obverse went thru the end of the series. Some 3/3 P, many O, S none. Not purchased yet - 3/2 does exist but only found for some O (none P, none S). There are 14 known combinations out of 18 possible for year 1900, so I probably won't finish the whole set.
